‘Day Off’ wins Best Short Film at DIY fest.

TEHRAN, Apr. 05 (MNA) – Iranian short film ‘Day Off’ directed by AIdin Pedari has won the Best Short Film award at the World Cinema section at the 14th DIY Film Festival in Santa Monica, USA.

Directed by Aidin Pedari, ‘Day Off’ is the story of a young pizza delivery man who takes a day off to go out with his dying dog, then he faces surrealistic and poetic moments around him. Tragic and elegiac, filmmaker Pedari takes viewers on a heartbreaking tour of inner and outer beauty of his home town.

The 14th edition of DIY Film Festival was held online in Santa Monica, USA. Films from France, Egypt, Australia, UK, Bulgrai, Romania, Lebanon, Spain, and Canada were vying alongside with two Iranian titles for the best prize.

According to the festival’s website, the DIY is the first and the only cyclic movie event focusing entirely on counterculture and its creative influence on surrounding reality.
